Metropolitan Washington D.C.
Society for Surgery of the Hand

The Metropolitan Washington, DC Society for Surgery of the Hand (MWDCSSH) was founded in 1975 by Drs. John Adams, Bruce Butler, Andrew Dobranski, Neil Frye, Steve Shaffer, and Robert Neviaser. These practicing hand surgeons had been invited to participate in the societies in Baltimore and Philadelphia, however, they desired their own local organization. The next two members were Dr. Steve Gunther and George Bogumill.

Over the years, the Society has grown and now has close to 40 members. It is an active group with regular meetings, social functions, and helps sponsor an annual visiting professor.
